This survey was performed to evaluate and compare the activity of daily living(ADL) state and the satisfaction state of the elderly in institution and home. The scores of activity of daily living and satisfaction state were collected from 62 elders in 3 institutions in Taegu city and Kyungpook province and 60 elders at their homes in Taegu. The comparison of their activity of daily living state the satisfaction state were summarized as follows:
1. The elders in institutions revealed higher scores in satisfaction state than the elders at homes.
2. In institutions, the general characteristics which affected the activity of daily living scores were religion, health status, monthly pocket money. In home, the general characteristics which affected the activity of daily living scores were religion, health state.
3. In home, the general characteristics which affected the satisfaction state scores were age, educational level, health state.
